The Lexington Home and School Club strives
to establish and sustain the relationship between each family's home, our school and the local community.
We work together to support the International Baccalaureate Program.
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create
a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging
programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These
programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other
people, with their differences, can also be right.
We have a mission to help create a better world through education. We promote community involvement.
There are several
roles within the Club: President, Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Communications, LGEF Representatives,
Hospitality, Volunteer Coordinator, and Parliamentarian. Elections
for new board members will be held in April. In July,
a newly elected group of Home and School board members take office.
Our regular meetings are open to the public and scheduled for the third Friday of each month at 8:30 am. During these
meetings, we will address district items, the school budget, school site council agenda items, Lexington construction, IB
related issues, LGEF topics, Parent Continuum workshops, and issues which have been brought to our attention by our Lexington
Parent Community.
Opportunities to assist and participate in
other areas are numerous and varied. I encourage each parent to volunteer in areas where you feel you can fit in your schedule
and priorities. It is an invaluable gift to your child's education and the school.
We would also like to encourage you to review our website. In order to fund the
programs which are not covered by the district or state budget, we have annual and on-going fundraisers to supplement the
difference.
We hope you can join us but if you can not, please share with us your ideas, comments,
suggestions, or concerns by email. All emails are available on the "Contact US" tab.
Sincerely,
Allison Valentine
